In January, we experienced two incidents that resulted in degraded performance across GitHub services. January 13 09:38 UTC (lasting 46 minutes) On January 13, 2026, from 09:25 to 10:11 UTC, GitHub Copilot experienced a service outage with error rates averaging 18% and peaking at 100%. This impacted chat features across Copilot Chat, VS Code, JetBrains IDEs, and other dependent products. The incident was triggered by a configuration error introduced during a model update and was initially mitigated by rolling back the change.
